In order for one to run for the mayor of a city in the United States, must one be a resident of said city? Could one be a resident of a neighboring city and still run?

  1. Depends on the city's charter.  I've never heard of a city that will let non-residents run.


  2. Each city establishes its own requirements.

  3. No I think he has to be in the county. Some small towns combine and only have 1 mayor.
