Must see's in new zealand?

i'm thinking of going on a trip next summer. it's about three weeks long and travels to new zealand and australia. i've already been to australia, so i know that part of the trip will be worth it. i just want to know what are some good must see attractions in new zealand so i know if i'll be getting my money's worth on this trip. i'm only 15, so i'd like to know of stuff someone my age or a little older would be interested in. i'd appreciate any help and suggestions :)

You didn't say North or South Island you would be spending most of your time.  Since I use to live in the South Is, I'll post my tips here.

There’s heaps of Lord of the Rings Tours both island.  Wellington and Queenstown the most popular.  Search and you’ll have many options.

I always wanted to see that park where the flightless birds sometimes peck at the rubber of cars. I 4got what the name was but it's somewhere in central S. Island on the route between Christchurch and Greymouth.
