  1. You absolutely MUST see the Colosseum and the Pantheon.

They are simply breathtaking.  If you can, also check out the Vatican.

  2. Venice is quite small and it doesn't really take that long to walk around...you don't say how long you will be in these places, but 2 days is probably ample (which is as long as I had)...you can take the vaporetto/ which are the equivalent of buses, they work their way around the place and you can see a lot from them (and I did nto bother with the extremely pricy gondolas)....St Marcos square is the main place and the Doges palace located there is well worth going to...St Marcos (bascialla) is quite good too for all the gold mosaics mainly.

There are numerous little churches around the place to discover and there are markets around too (the one near the Rialto Bridge is quite good for souveniers...however the authenticity of the "murano" glass is probably questionable, however I bought some as I'm not worried....apparently you can go to the glass factory and is supposed to be very interesting.

Florence is lovely, although there are lots of people (tourists), the Duomo is stunning and the buildings in general are lovely, all painted in yellows/browns/greens and have painted patterns over them which give the place a really good feeling.

Threre is lots to see here...seeing the city from the hill on the other side of the river is definately worth it (I took the tourist double decker bus, which takes you to the main tourist places and is a 24hr ticket)

The "david" statue is worth the wait...it really is amazing (note there are 2 others in Florence, one in the piazza where the original stood for hundreds of years and the other on the place overloking the city I mentioned earlier.

The other musuems (eg Uffuzi..spelling??) are worth looks.

Pisa is close to Florence (eg a hour train ride) and apart from the leaning tower there is not much to see, but I would recommend the tower.

I also loved Lucca, again not far from Florence and is a mini florence, but quieter and more quaint...its a nice escape (I did both Pisa and Lucca in a day in a round trip from Florence).

Siena, which is in/around the Tuscany region is definately worth a look....I did not see much of the countryside (apart from staying in a little town called Montepulciano...a hillside viallge and lovely views of the surrounding area and good wine).

Rome is great and I regret not spending more time here....the Roman stuff is worth seeing (the collosuem, roman forum, pantheon etc) as well as the other famous stops like the Vatican (where you have to see the Sistine Chapel as well), Trevi Fountain, Piazzo Navona and lots of other places I missed out on too....I was not overly come with amazment with the Spanish steps as the scaffolding on the buildings and lack of flowers, with people over the place kind of took away from the main pics I saw of it.

I did a day trip from Rome to Pomepeii, but missed Naples (except passing thru it....it did not seem escpeically pretty too me, however I only saw parts of it)....Pompeii is worth a look I have to say (and I was amazed at the "smuttiness" there....rather fascinating really. eg brothels (with diagrams) and pointers in the stones (keep an eye out for them in the roads) of male anatomy directing you to the nearest brothel.

Anyway I was amazed too at the size of the town, as I always thought it was a few buildings!

You will love Italy...the food!! The scenery and the history are amazing and will want you coming back for more!

  3. Must see Callossium, leaning tower of PISA, Vatican City

Central market area in Venice, Parks and churches in Naples Hill sides and snow in Tuscany

    Enjoy Night life in Italy

Explore city of Venice in Water boats yourself and

Have fun with beautiful Girls of Italy who are supposed to be most beautiful in Europe

  4. Definitely take some time to check out the cathedrals in Italy... I'm from the USA, and I never thought much of cathedrals until I saw them up close and personal. They are amazing. My favorite was Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence.

And you probably should go ahead and ride in a gondola while you are over there too.

And you might as well feed the thousands of pidgeons in St. Marks Plaza. That's a lot of fun.

And try not to buy anything in the tourist areas, because it is all junk!! Don't be fooled!

  5. Top five things:

    1. Travel by public transportation.

    2. Visit Pompeii and Herculanum outside of Naples.

    3. Egadi Islands off the western coast of Sicily

  6. i would go in puglia nice countryside and beaches

  7. You must eat pizza in naples!!!!visit capri, pompei, sorrento...my city is the most beautiful city!!!

  8. I advise you also Assisi and Perugia,in the centre of Italy. Assisi is famous for San Francesco. The Basilica is amazing. Then Verona where Shakespeare set Romeo and Juliet. You can still see the balcony of Juliet. And there is the famous Arena. Do you like Opera? Arena is famous for that. Not far from Verona there is another delicious city, Mantova. Then you could see Cinque Terre, Portofino, Portovenere in Liguria. They are all small villages on the sea, very delicious.

  9. NAPLES is amazing. ride a "motornini"--stay up all night. wake up early and mustttttt seeee the colossium and pompeii!
