Must see places in Venice?

Hey! I'm traveling to Italy this month with 5 friends (ages 23-27). What are some must see places in Venice? Thanks :)

All depends how long you are going to stay.

Check Websites - the city's official tourist board site is www.turismovenezia.it;  the official site of the city government (also full of good resources) is www.comune.venezia.it.

A couple of good privately maintained sites are Meeting Venice (www.meetingvenice.it) and Doge of Venice (www.doge.it).

Visit one of the tourist information centers for current English-language schedules of the month's special events. The monthly Ospite di Venezia is distributed free or on-line at www.unospitedivenezia.it.

Meet some of the lopcals in the evenings then you must hang out at either Campo santa Margerita or next to the rialto bridge... on the fish market side.

1. You must visit the Ducal Palace and the Basilica of San Marco - all in Piazza San Marco

2. Cà Pesaro - next to the san Stae vaporetto staop - beautifully restored building with a grand collection of art from the past 100 years of the Biennale.
