Question:

Must we resort to Hydrogen for planes, deadly but effective?

Hydrogen, the most explosive gas known to be, is the only thing apart from Oil/Petrol able to move a plane. Renewable Energies are not enough, renewable oils are not enough and yes, Oil will run out, Canadian oil rocks and Saudi Arabian supplies are running out, we need to replace it with something.

Must we resort to hydrogen. The plane will go much faster, but its dangerous if a fire starts on board etc. We will need containers fire and heat proof etc.

So, your view?

  1. No hydrogen is not our only source.

Some fuels that can be used are biofuels and electricity(they are researching that right now)

  2. Maybe we should

    just go back to what

    was natural a long

    time ago. Like ride

    horses and have small

    villages without so much

    stuff. Stop fighting over

    oil and making pollution.

    It might be better for

    growing up families and

    have a better social order.

  3. Hydrogen is not that dangerous. It burns at such a low temperature that you could touch it with your bare hands. In the Hindenburg footage, what you actually saw burn was the skin, not the H. Plus, people would be much more careful around H than they normally would other fuels.

  4. hydrogen fuel in my opinion is very impractical. Aside from it being explosive, hydrogen is difficult to extraxt from the air or from a chemical means. inorder to extract it we may need to use energy from another means like petrol or hydro or nuclear. what we need to do is put more money into researching a chemical fuel that produces only non toxic bi-products.

  5. Hydrogen is entirely unsuitable for aircraft propulsion; its energy density is too low.  Also, it is expensive; it has to be made from fossil fuels (usually natural gas).  If one had a well from which hydrogen could be pumped at little cost, the most sensible thing to do with it would be to combine it with coal to make artificial petroleum.

  6. I think it would only be dangerous if the plane crashed, and then you're pretty much screwed anyway whether it's a regular plane that runs on jet fuel or one that runs on hydrogen.  I don't think a small fire on board would hurt the hydrogen fuel system, as long as it could be contained to the cabin.
