If you have a G1 license, must you be insured as an occasional driver? I have been told that you do not need to be insured until you get your G2 because you must be with an insured driver while you have your G1, but would anything need to be changed? Obviously they need to know that someone else is going to be driving the vehicle now.

  1. No you don't because with your G1 you're always driving with a fully licensed and insured driver. You need to be insured with your G2, at least if you want to drive by yourself.

After I got my G2, I had to beg my parents for insurance and until they did, I had to drive with them as if I had my G1.
