Mustafa Kacmaz and Omer Aslanoglu acquire Men's 50m breast-stroke gold - Austrian Qualifying Meet
Mustafa Kacmaz and Omer Aslanoglu of Turkey acquired gold medal of Men's 50m breast-stroke on the concluding day of the 2011 Austrian Short Course Qualifying Meet on Sunday, November 27 in Vienna New Town, Austria.
The duo of Turkish swimmers demonstrated their gruelling efforts in the open category of breast-stroke discipline. The 19-year-old Kacmaz and the 23-year-old Aslanoglu remained engage into a neck-to-neck race throughout the 50m event.
They tried hard to escape each other on the finishing wall for the crown of the event but failed to achieve so and they hit the wall with an identical time of 28.42 seconds. The gold winning effort remained 1.33 seconds away from the meet record of 27.09 seconds, made by Hunor Mate of Austria in 2009.
In the meantime, the arena was amazed to see a sluggish effort of 28-year-old Mate, who failed to defend his title and finished third behind them, clocking a time of 28.43 seconds for third position.
Mate remained 0.79 seconds ahead of his following swimmer, Jakob Dietrich of Austria, who settled on the finishing wall as the fourth fastest swimmer by submitting a time of 29.22 seconds.
The fourth position holder remained 0.02 seconds ahead of Thomas Narnhofer of Austria, who obtained the fifth fastest spot of the race by producing a time of 29.24 seconds. The 37-year-old Narnhofer managed to outperform Michal Ledl of Czech on the finishing end.
The 20-year-old Ledl remained 0.27 seconds behind his forgoing competitor and completed his swim in a time of 29.51 seconds for sixth position. The seventh spot of the race was secured by Michael Volgyes of Austria, who remained 1.15 seconds behind Ledl and ended his swim in a seventh fastest time of 29.66 seconds.
The 37-year-old Volgyes edged out his final competitor Maximilian Reindl of Austria with a difference of 0.50 seconds. The 17-year-old Reindl completed his swim in a time of 30.16 seconds for eighth position.
The arena applauded for wonderful efforts of all the participants, who tried to prove their mettle for top position. Furthermore, the winners were called upon the medal rostrum for their medals after the conclusion of championship.
