I have been putting into this fund but would like to know if I can cancel it and take whatever money is due to me.

  1. Not sure what mutual fund you bought, BUT when you buy a security and the trade settles you're not going to get your money back

You can notify the fund company and sell your shares, but don't expect to get a full refund.

Muncie Birder has given you some incorrect information, you can try, but they can and will say No, this as per the SEC and FINRA

  2. was it stolen

  3. Of course you can.

However, if the money's in a tax-deferred account such as a 401k or IRA, you will want to look at the tax and/or penalty consequences before doing that.  (You can pay a hefty penalty for ignorance.)

If it's in a regular (non-tax-deferred) account, just tell them you want some money.

I see that 'A Nobody' interpreted your question as "will I get back the exact amount of my original investment?"  If that is what you meant, then no.  You will get back the current value of your investment, which may be either more or less than what you put in.

  4. If it is a legitimate mutual fund company, yes you can.  Call them up and tell them you want to close out the account and to send you a check.  It is that simple.

  5. Back from where,

    taken out from where,
