Muwalla likely to shine in John Wade Group Novices´ Hurdle
Muwalla is in contention for winning the John Wade Group Novices´ Hurdle (John Wade And Collins Seafoods Ltd Hurdle Series Qualifier) at Sedgefield in England on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. A victory in the class-4 event will earn him a cash prize of £2,534
in the end, but things will not be easy for him, as there are some very good runners up against him.
The going has been described as good to firm in the 2 mile 1 furlong event, which has attracted a total of 12 entries. The weather at Sedgefield has been good for racing over the past few days, thus all the participants will be pleased with the situation.
Looking at the overall record of all contestants, the bookmakers have given the best odds to Fleet Dawn, despite the fact that he does not have a good strike rate. He has appeared in five races until now and managed to win just one of them. However, his
only victory came over hurdles, which suggests that he likes such a format.
Although, Fleet Dawn has managed to win the confidence of the bookies, yet the punters will not be interested in risking money on him. They will rather look to place more bets in favour of Muwalla, who is more experienced and has been doing a decent job
over the past few events.
The five-year-old gelding does not have any major advantages over his opponents, but he will definitely enjoy running at Sedgefield. He has appeared just once before at this venue and the result was a good one for him. Despite not being rated as the favourite
to win, he took the top spot by a nose distance in the end.
The conditions are pretty much similar to that race today, thus the Chris Grant’s trainee will be full of confidence right now. He has appeared in a total of 30 events in his career so far, winning on three occasions whereas secured the third position on
the same number of times. In addition to that, he has finished as a runner up in a couple of races, which shows that he is a decent performer.
Muwalla’s partner in the race will be young jockey, Alexander Voy, who has got some useful experience in races over hurdles.
