Muzzle loader breech plug rusted shut help!!!

can anyone help me with this i cant get it out ive tried using a flathead s***w driver to try and unscrew it but didnt work tried WD-40 and gun oil still no luck any help?

  1. get any good rust remover, like 'naval jelly', soak for a few minutes, remove with water, don't worry it will not make it worse, oxides are best dissolved in an aqueous solution, oil based solutions will work also-talk to your friendly neighborhood dentist for an 'explorer', one of his throw-aways, and dig out the plug, repeating as necessary with the jelly/water rinse-do not try to ream this with a drill or dremel tool, you will wind up with a wall hanger, not a shooter...good luck.


  2. gas put gas on it

  3. Get some "KROIL" from a hardware store or a gunsmith. and let it soak for a day or so before using a screwdriver that fits well and a sharp rap from a hammer to jar it loose.
