My 1.5 month old hamster is peeing blood(or red stuff), wats wrong?

my hamster is a male syrian, and yesterday i gave it a new kind of treats , they r littly supplement donuts. they are coloured red. i don't noe if its just the food colouring or its peeing blood. its so young could anything be wrong? should i bring it to a vet?

The blood is probably from the urinary tract or anal region. Since they are all located very closely, it is difficult to say where the blood is coming from.

Blood from the urinary tract - This could mean an urinary tract infection(UTI). Consult a vet and obtain a hamster-safe antibiotic such as Baytril or Albon. Note that if bleeding occurs again after the course of antibiotics, it could mean that there is an internal cyst in one of the hamster's internal organs. Consult a vet again to have the hamster examined.

Blood from the hamster's a**s - This could be a result of feeding too much wet food such as fruits or vegetables. Cut down on those foods and take him to a vet for medication. If after a week you see no improvement, make an appointment with a hamster-experienced vet again as this continued bleeding could point to something more serious such as a tumor in the intestinal tract.

I know this will sound weird but smell the pee, if it is really blood there should be a metalic smell to it, like a handful of pennies.

I'd stop feeding the donuts and see if that makes the color go away.

If it has been since you have been giving it the treats then it could be the food colouring in them. So stop giving it the treats, if it hasnt cleared up within 2 days then id take it to the vet as it may have a kidney problem.
