Question:

My 1 month old's left eye lid and entire eye area looks smaller than the right eye.?

the actual eyeball is the same size in both eyes but the eye area looks uneven, will her left eye area grow with her right in time? does any one have this issue?

  1. It's almost certainly normal, babies faces take a few months to 'unwrinkle'. By 3 months it will probably have improved considerably.  But if you're worried don't hesitate to get it checked.


  2. Does it look like it is a problem of the eyelid?  There is a condition that is called "Blepharophimosis ptosis epicanthus inversus syndrome" or..."BPES".  It is a condition where the eyelids have a smaller than normal opening.  It looks as if they have "chinese" eyes.  There are different types of this syndrome.  You should research it ...or contact your pediatrician.

  3. Point this out to your pediatrician when you see him/her.  He/she will know what to do or whom  to send you .  If this really bothers you then don't wait.

  4. that is normal in newborns. it will go away as he/she is growing. you can always ask the pediatrician he/she might say the same thing. no need to worry.
