I took him to the ER today (sunday) b/c his fever has lasted about 2-3 days. I thought it was just teething. He has cut 2 teeth and working on 2 more. The ER doc said that he couldnt find anything wrong. Is it bad for a 10 month old to have a HIGH fever for 2-3 days in a row now?? I've been giving him Tylenol every 4 hours and Motrin every 6 hours. What else should I do???

  1. call his regular Dr. office ,they should have an after hours nurse for you to speak with. I've heard that a warm bath can take down a babies temp, but if you are really concerned take him back to the ER, you are his mom and you know him better than anyone. always better safe than sorry!!

  2. It is actually not that bad for a young child to have a high fever, for an adult I would worry but for a child it is not that bad, if you took your child to the ER I would'nt worry but if you did not like his answer take your child back  or call your pediatrician

  3. old folk tale, but it works, try rubbing him down with alcohol, the green kind, and remember that the temp rises at night, don't know why but it does! good luck.

  4. what did the ER doc tell you to do??? that seems excessive with medicine!

  5. Make sure he doesn't get dehydrated!  High temps burn up the water in the body.  Kids run high temps sometimes and teething may be all it is.  You have an internal ability to know when it isn't right.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, you know that child the best.  Alternating those 2 is perfect.  And take him to your regular pediatrician tomorrow.  But don't panic, and give plenty of clear fluids, pedialyte.  But watch for the dairy, it may make his tummy clabber and he'll feel worse.  I'm not a professional, just a mom of 4 kids.  See your regular dr.  Tepid bath.

  6. Give him room temperature bath has well. And let him wear just a diaper for while that can help with the fever,
