My 10 mth old rat has blood coming out of his eyes and cannot move his back legs. I think he had a stroke.?

  2. It's quite possible that your rat had a stroke. Rats are prone to tumors so if one formed in it's brain it could be applying pressure. It's also common for rats that are getting older, to have back leg degeneration. On a better note the blood coming out of his eyes may not be as bad as you think. Rats mucus is naturally a reddish color so if they are stressed its common for their to be a reddish tented liquid around their eyes and nose. The only thing I can tell you is to take him to the vet as soon as possible. Rats have weak immune systems so the sooner you take him to the vet the better his chances of survival. Make sure that he keeps eating and that he is getting plenty of water. Other than that you can only make him as comfortable as possible.
