  1. As long as there is nothing wrong with him don't worry about it. You might try slacking off a little, say give him 4 oz every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Ask the doctor how to space the feedings out more.  Then consult a lactation specialist if you're still concerned.

  2. My little one was 9lb 1oz at birth and at 7.5 months she's 24lb! The nhs changes their mind every half generation about how much a baby should eat etc. The verdict at the mo is feed on demand which I totally agree with, what 10 week old comfort eats like he's watching t.v? I breastfed for the first month and in the last 48 hours before we switched to sma she fed every 20 minutes without a break, my health visitor came round at 9.30pm and sent hubby to tescos to get a can so I could sleep!!

If he is getting colicy though try swapping a bottle for cooled boiled water as he could just be thirsty especially in this heat.

  3. that is perfectly normal to eat that much that often andy less and he would be crying for more !!

  4. I would start pushing back to 3-4 hours between feedings. His milk intake may increase to 6-8oz each feeding or it may stay the same way. If he is unable to go more than 2 hours then I would start giving a little cereal in the morning, especially being bottle fed he should be going at least 3 hours by this age. My nephew is breastfed and he goes 4-5 hours during the day and he goes 10-12 hours during the night, he started this at 10 weeks old. Before that he was going 5-6 at night and 3-4 during the day. At 11 weeks he also started on cereal and he is now 3 months and is on cereal twice a day, fruit 3 times a day and vegetables once a day. We get children at 6 weeks old and I have never fed a child (formula or breast milk) under 3 hours after the 6 week mark.

  5. its pretty normal, but try to space out his feeds so he doesn't become too overweight.

  6. If you have a happy, healthy baby, I wouldn't change a thing.  I tried spacing my second born's feedings out b/c my husband was in Iraq and we had a toddler and the newborn that I was dealing with on my own and it was difficult to sit and feed him so often so I tried everything to put him on a routine that fit MY needs and not his.  It didn't work.  He was extremely fussy all the time, and then when I just tried feeding on demand and doing what HE needed me to do, it wasnt' working either.  I had so many frustrations with it and ended up hating myself for doing everything wrong and resenting him for making me feel miserable since I was on my own.  It was very hard, and he's now 15mos old and we're just now getting on track with things.  I feel better, he is doing better, and it's been a long bumpy road.  Just go with what works for your baby trust me.  You don't wanna go through what I did.  As long as the dr. says he's normal and healthy, don't worry about it.

  7. you know my 7 week old daughter is the same way. she was 8.1 lbs at birth and is now over 11 lbs. im not sure how much she is eating, im breastfeeding, but it is every  2 hours. my son at birth was 6.4 and gained 2-3 lbs every month and was a chubby baby. he is now 3 yrs 4 mos. and is a tiny 26 lbs and short, like his dad. so cubby babies are a must it dosent mean they are going to be fat kids. they eat how much they are expose to, they dont eat for the fun of it, so no worries.

  8. he's cool.....don't change it. you'll find they go in spurts....eating a lot, hardly eating anything....they'll get tall and lean with a growth spurt, and then chunk up a little again, then grow a few inches and get leaner again. It's cool to see the growth. You're doing a great job!
