  1. Plain Canned pumpkin to loosen him up and yogurt to get the good bacteria working again.

  2. Canned pumpkin (plain not spiced for pie) will definitely help.  The other funny thing about pumpkin is that is also will bulk up the stool if they are having runny stool.  We give all three of our dogs one teaspoon of pumpkin with their breakfast every morning and it has worked wonders!!

  3. yogurt works great any kind and any flavor

  4. Most dogs pass one or two stools a day. It's not uncommon, though, for a dog to go a day or two without having a bowel movement. As long as the stools are normal in size and pass easily, it's no cause for concern.

Some dogs suffer from constipation at some time or another. For some, it becomes a chronic condition or signals a more serious problem. Luckily, most cases aren't serious and are easily treated with changes in diet and lifestyle.

  6. First off, is he straining to go and nothing is coming out... or is he just not even straining?

If he is straining then yes, he is constipated. It is safe to give a small amount of vegetable oil but ONLY if you've consulted your vet first.

If he is not even straining, then don't worry!  It is completely normal for a dog to go a day or two without an occassional bowel movement as long as he/she is not straining.

  7. Feed him canned pumpkin it really helps!!! You can buy it at grocery stores.

  8. If  you are sure that's what it is get a can of pumpkin , not the pie mix a regular can and give him a teaspoon if little and a tablespoon if larger  he should be okay after that in a few hours BUT be sure this dog does not have a blockagee or something, My oldest 16 yr old gets it once in a while..vet recomnded it so it is safe as long as thats all it is!

  9. I've had to give stool softening enemas to dogs a few times....didn't thrill me or the dog, but it worked.  Just standard baby enemas.

  10. Take your dog to the vet and ask the doctor what kind of medicine is available.

  11. Try castor oil or fish oil. A tablespoon directly to the dog or two tablespoons full in a dry dog food.
