  1. well try feeding it more and/or buy a type of cave thing for it so that it stays in their more snakes like heat and darkness and those things are dark and hold the heat that way you could feed it easier and not worry bout it striking when you open cage or if its at maximum size you could sell if nothing else works that would be a good paycheck. or if you don't care you could eat it i heard snakes taste like ribs.

  2. snakes do generally eat more during the warmer months than during winter.  however you say she is handled sometimes...kings need a lot of handling to stay "tame".  also if you have had the snake for 10 years and this is new behavior you might consider taking her to the vet.  maybe this is her way of letting you know she doesnt feel good.

    good luck!

  3. Buy cage props and check for pregnancy .

  4. She's not striking at you due to hunger. She's agitated about something. If she were just hungry she wouldn't waste her energy striking at something she could not possibly ever hope to fit her mouth around. Snake's are stupid, but not that stupid.

Make sure everything is perfect as far as husbandry needs go, put her in a really quiet area of the house and let her settle for a couple of weeks. Offer a meal after about a week but don't bother her aside from that, to change water and keep the cage clean.

  5. If you are feeding the snake in the cage BAD idea.  because if you do that then when you go to pick it up it will think that you are food.  So get an eating cage for your snake and feed it in there.  I have a snake and I have a container that I put it in and it never trys to hurt anyone.

  6. Well you can try feeding her more and getting her a hide box if she doesnt already have one... or even more likely with a ten yr old snake is she may be going blind or her sensory level is dropping so she is striking when she feels threatened, if you dont know i would suggest taking her to the vet...if you have had her for ten years and she didnt do this last summer or the summer before there may be some other problem...make any sense...if you have any questions feel free to email me

  7. If a snake's body is warmer he/she will be more active thus needing more nutrition. Some people winter their snakes and they don't get anything during that time. Its the same with crocs and alligators. Keep in mind that those time frames have to be worked out based on your snake specifically. Your snake is seeking food. I would advise getting her on a regular feeding schedule. That way she most likely won't be striking like this.
