  1. Unfortunately, bedwetting alarms are not a "one size fits all" device - not really.  There are multiple styles of alarms and you have to choose the one that is right for your son, or you will not cure his bedwetting.

First of all, if you want to use an auditory alarm and he is a very deep sleeper, you need to invest in an alarm that is loud enough for YOU to hear.  I know Malen makes some super loud alarms and I believe Nite Trainer has an alarm that actually has a speaker in the parent's bedroom.  You must get up with your son each and every time the alarm goes off and help him to the toilet.

For boys there is a second option.  Potty Pager (or Night Hawk) make an alarm that uses vibrations to wake the child up.  Because the alarm is placed right on a boys most sensetive areas, it is often such an unfamiliar sensation that it wakes them.  It has the dual affect or re-associating the waking with the sensations in their crotch (vibrating, of course, but also the wetness from the accident).  I believe they also make alarms that have sound and vibration.

I know it's annoying to think that you may have to re-invest in a new alarm, but if you're committed to your sons continence, then you have to do it "right"!  Good Luck!

  2. Alarms ARE after the fact and won't wake a very deep sleeper.  Along with all the other suggestions of reduced water and caffeine intake, going before bedtime and your own bedtime etc, Goodnights appear to be a good solution until he's able to grow out of it.

  3. is it next to him or close to him, maybe its too far away that he doesn't hear it or, maybe it isnt on the loudest setting.  If both those answers are no then you might have to buy two.  My friend has to have two alarms so he wakes up in the morning because he is a very heavy sleeper.

  4. Make him wear good night underwear  and put a plastic sheet under is regular fitted sheet (you can get it at a 99 cent store) for starters and why don't you wake and and then go wake him up ?

  5. It took forever for my son to stop wetting the bed.  The doctor said those alarms are useless anyway, because by the time they go off its too late.  Her plan was simple.  Nothing to drink after 6pm except a Small ( 4oz) glass of water before bed. Soda, artificial sweeteners, chocolate and anything with Caffeine were limited during the day to 8 oz or less per day.  They can actually cause incontinence.  To have him use the bathroom right before bed.  And for me to get him up to use the bathroom before I went to sleep around 10.  It was a hassle at first.  But it paid off and after a few weeks He's been dry 99% of the time for over 2 years now

  6. Is this the kind that attach to the kid's clothes? If so, where is the alarm? Is it hooked to his pj top next to his face? If not, put it there. Get another and put it on the other side...
