My 10 yr old brother sucks his thumb still!!!!!!!!

ok my parents have tried everything to the bad tastiong rub to the thumb protectors everything you name it the only thing left we havent tried is that retaineer that they cant take out and it feels wierd. the reason he sucks his thumb is because he has a security blanket he drags everyway if we take it away he will be all out of it. my brother isnt a wimp every like he has friends he just acts like this at home. help open to anything plase!!!!

I'm 16 and i still occasionally suck my thumb but for me it's just a bad habit...and it's understandable to have a security blanket just try to convince him to leave it at home...but as far as he thumb thing you can only hope he grows out of it really!!!

it's time to get rid of the blanket.  he needs something else to hold on to...maybe a key chain, rabbits foot or some trinket.

I think that he needs to get comfortable with something other than sucking his thumb tell him he'll be stuck with braces becuase my friend now has to get them and is so upset I think your stuck with them for 4 years.

when i was 8 i sucked my thumb, and what my parents did to fix it was they had both of my arms extended out of my sides and tied to the bottom of my bed so that i could not reach either thumb during my sleep. for the first few nights i got barely any sleep but if you just stick to it for 2 weeks youll break the habit.

the security blanket, trash it. seriously. my cousin had that problem at 7, his parents trashed it, he went nuts, but he got over it in about a week.

im 11 almost 12 and i know a friend thats almost 13!!!! that sucks her thumb STILL. its just a habit you have to get rid of by putting hot sauce on his thumb and you need to constantly apply it at home. but the blanket problem... throw it away!!!!!

its normal but i think u should hide tha blanket from him well im 11 nd sumtimes do it but not really it is a force of habit for him cause i have a friend whos 14 nd sill sucks on her thumb but it was a force of habit it could be tha same with ur brother
