  1. A fever is a healthy way for the body to rid itself of infection. Just make sure she's staying hydrated and give her lots of love and cuddling, or let her sleep if she will. It goes away. My brat was that age when she got her first major ear infection, I had to stay up all night with her laying at an angle on my chest so she would sleep. She did nothing but whimper and sweat while we waited for meds to kick in and it totally sucked. But the next day she was about 300% better and almost back to her normal self, cept her appetite was off for almost a week.  Good luck!

  2. offer her fluids in any form she will take them, drinking is the most important thing.  Lower her (low grade) fever by keeping her undressed and cool.  I honestly don't medicate for a fever that low because the fever is the body's way of killing whatever germ or virus got in.  Of course if she is uncomfortable and it goes higher, by all means give tylenol or ibuprofen as directed.

  3. It's not a big deal, just monitor it and if it goes over 101.5 give some tylenol.  A fever is a way of the body fighting the virus.  Why did the doctor give you antibiotics?  I never gave my children antibiotics, they weaken the immune system and most of the time are given for the wrong reasons.

Lots of fluids, water mostly.  5 oz is better than nothing.

  4. Her temp is not too high.  My son gets 106 fevers and I've had him in the emergency room several times.  They tell me it doesn't matter how high a fever is as long as they aren't seizuring, not responding, and if his breathing is off.  I would call the doctors and tell them she's worse then she really is just so they will see her.  Also make sure she is drinking plenty of fluids.

  5. I never give my child milk when they are running a fever. Pedilight or gaderade would be a much better choice. The milk seems to curdle in their stomachs and could make them throw up.

100.9 doesn't seem to high...give her tylnol then in 4 hours switch to motrin to help break a fever.

  6. 100 isn't TOO high. You have to give the meds time to kick in, plus time for the fever to go down. She's not going eat as much because she's not feeling well. She'll be fine. Give the meds as directed, let her eat whatever she eats, and she'll feel better soon.

  7. When my 9 month old son would run very high fevers due to cronic ear infection, his body would be limp and lifeless because he was dehydrated. You have to get your child hydrated again. Try giving the child a cold, very damp wash cloth and let him suck on it. Do not leave him alone with the wash cloth. Watch him closely. I have also taken a med dropper and given him water that way. Some illnesses can cause a sore throat so they won't drink because it hurts to swollow. Hope this helps you! I've been there. A fever can be scarey when your child is limp because of it.

  8. They should have given her somthing for the fever, like a suppository. But she probably just feels crappy so cuddle her, and let her get some sleep after her meds. She feels the same as you when your sick, no real appetite, tired, cranky...
