  1. please please please stay on your doctor about this becuase this was the first thing that happened with my child before the fever came along, then the spinal meninjitis.  if your baby gets a fever at all, get it checked out, asap!!!

  2. my father suggested i give my baby karo corn syrup in his formula.  and he was right.  worked well!

  3. jesus christ that's insane and totally freaking weird!

  4. my babies **** was dark green to so i dont see any problem

  5. i had the same problem and still occassionally do with my 4 month old, i called my pediatrician and was worried sick about him, but they kept reassuring me that it is very normal for newborns to have constipation, they recommended the dark karo syrup 1 tsp, to 4 ozs. and that didnt work so they put him on lactulose. lactulose is a stool softener and it works really good for my son. but most parents say that karo syrup worked for them so check with your pediatrician and if they say its ok i would try that first......in the meantime dont worry about it too much. it is very common in newborns.

also something i forgot to mention, my pediatrician putting the tip of a thermometor up his butt that makes them want tp push and maybe that would work. hope i helped

  6. My daughter stopped pooping after I brought her home from the hospital. She was being breast fed and the doc really couldn't tell me why it was happening...just one of those things. He suggested that I used 1 part baby prune juice to 3 parts water in a bottle and that got her going the natural way. Those suppositories are harsh.

  7. Are you breastfeeding?  If so, it's okay for her to go 7-10 days without pooping.  I would not be remotely worried.  The yellow seedy p**p is what you're looking for if you are nursing.

The dark green and thick poo is more than likely the result of the suppository or a reaction to something in your diet or the formula she's on.  Possibly milk.  Try cutting DOWN (or out if you can bare) on dairy and "gassy foods" if the green p**p continues, it takes 2 weeks to see results.

Do not give a baby of that age Karo syrup, it can really harm them not to mention the fact your baby has what's called an "open gut" and the last thing you want to do is give her ANYTHING that isn't breastmilk, formula, or REAL medicine.

    Edit:

Juice is bad, she still has a virgin gut.  If anything take her temperature rectally if you're THAT worried.  The frothy green p**p is from the formula, which you've switched.  Let her go on her own.

What you really need to do is stop supplementing and just let her nurse 24/7 whenever she wants it for whatever reason.  She will not starve, I promise.  Get a hold of an IBCLC in your area ASAP at least for advice:

But the more bottles and formula you use, the less your supply will build and solidify.  If you spend an entire day doing nothing but nursing your baby she's young enough your supply WILL right itself.

  8. If you're breastfeeding, I wouldn't worry too much - our baby went 5+ days without pooping.  When we asked the doctor about it, he said some babies break down the breastmilk and excrete only liquid waste.  If you're feeding the baby formula, I'd definitely ask more questions - maybe find another pediatrician to call and ask, just to make you feel better.

I'd suggest talking to a doctor before using more suppositories or karo syrup (old-fashioned remedy that may  be ok, but such a young baby - it's worth doing more research).

  9. well are you breast feeding or formula? if it is formula then the green is from the iron in it that's normal, however not having one on her own for 11 days that's not normal they may need to change the formula

  10. Just by the way it sounds I would say that it is normal. I would just tell your doctor about it tomorrow when you go.
