My baby chokes on food very often, so far 5 serious ones! Just now she was choking on drinking water! She couldn't breathe...After lots of effort she cried and then vomited:( I got so sad that I am still thinking and imagining the scene...

Does she have any problem? Or this is normal for the babies at this age? 11 months old.

  1. It could be that as it's happened once she is panicking and it's becoming a problem.  Get a tippy cup that she has to suck hard to get the water out - the anywayup cups are good then she knows when it's coming and it wont come out too fast.  Will the food go back a step in weaning.  Give her some softer things like mashed potatoes etc and only use a small spoon.  This will stop her from panicking about choking.

The most important thing is for you not to panick if she 'chokes'.  Just keep a straight face and say 'Oh dear' after it's done, then carry on as normal.  The more you panick the more she'll panick which will make the whole thing worse.

If you're still having problems then go to your Doctor and seek proffesional advice.

  2. Lady, don't ask a computer get the kid to a doctor! Please.

  3. she mightve choked on water bc she didnt like the flavorlessnness of it and so spat it out but started to choke while spitting it out?

also, have you tryed smashing the foods even more?

  4. you need the assistance of a doctor and probably a speech and language pathologist, they treat swallowing and feeding issues in babies.

  5. maybe take her to the docs jus tbecause it COULD be serious; she might not have the "chewing"reflex down yet.. which means you may have to cut her food up a little smaller adnd guide her through drinking. as she drinks, maybe just say "slolwy.." or something... good luck hope all is well

  6. i have a 14month old and he does the same he spits it back at me. i have a 8 and 5  year old and they did the same thing they just didnt want to eat what i gave them i wouldnt worry about it she will eat in her own time. i dont think its a problem and its nothing your doing wrong i panicked on my first child and then on my second i was calmer,is it your first child. good luck try yoguarts or softer food and see will that work
