  1. It would really depend on what she is having done.  If she is scheduled for a cleaning, she could keep the appointment without any problems.  They will probably make a big deal of it being her birthday!  If she is scheduled for fillings, let's not let her celebrate a birthday with her mouth numb, put it off for a week or so.

Additional information:  If this is a morning appointment for a cleaning and check up only which doesn't interfere with any of her birthday plans, I see no reason to cancel or postpone the appointment.  She won't be numb or in any pain after this appointment and it just may be in her best interest to keep it, depending upon how well she is with her home care and how long the wait is to reschedule the appointment which can be a month or more out with some dental offices.  If you are still unsure, ask your daughter if she is having any dental problems, discomfort or pain.  If she is having discomfort, then I would definitely keep the appointment, if not, then see what she would prefer to do.  I'm sure you will make the right decision, even is she isn't too happy (who is ever happy to see us?) with her appointment being on her birthday.

  2. Yes,call the dentist and postpone.Make her feel happy in this special day for her.She is an adolescent. She is going to remember it always.Take her shopping and buy her a beautiful present.

  3. No way go another day

  4. postpone it if its during the day but if its in the morning i wouldnt

  5. Yeah.

Don't make her go to that on her birthday.

  6. Yes.  Just call the dentist's office and tell them that you need to reschedule.  You don't need to give them an explanation, but if they ask, simply tell them that it is not convenient on that day.

Let your daughter enjoy her birthday without the dread that usually accompanies a dental appointment.

Good luck, and tell her to have a very happy birthday for me.

  7. Gulp! tell her to run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Yes. You only get one birthday a year, there are 364 other days of the year to have the appointment. I suggest changing it.

  9. reschedule! :)

  10. Keep the appointment if it's for a cleaning.  Dental offices tend to preschedule cleaning appointments 3-6 months in advance.  If her appointment is for a popular time, the chances of getting another appointment at the same time in the near future may be impossible. It'll be nice for her to have nice clean teeth for her birthday.  But if it's for treatment, then, yes, definitely reschedule the appointment.

  11. ask her

  12. As long as it is not an emergency, do whatever you feel is best. If it is a cleaning appointment,I would do it and get it over with. If it is for dental treatment, and she is not in pain, do what you feel is best.

  13. I'd keep it the same.  When she gets a little older she'll have to do all kinds of not fun stuff on her birthday, and I seriously think 11 is old enough to learn that and be okay with it.  A dentist's appointment really isn't that big a deal, and it's probably less stressful on a kid to get it over and done with then to have to worry about it for another week.
