My 12 day old has a cough, is it safe to take him outside?

My 12 day old little boy has a tickly cough, its not chesty or anything but im wondering if its safe to take him outside...? I know fresh air does good but im scared it will make it worse.

He's already on antibiotics as his cord stump got infected...im just being paranoid but any advice is welcome..?

i suggest that you keep him inside just to be on the safe side. =] but i hope his cough gets better.

Fresh air will be good for him..keeping him couped up inside with all the germs in your house isn't doing him any good, it makes it worse..there are probably less germs outside as long as you just keep him in his stroller..

think about it from your own perspective...if you werent feeling well and were sick would you prefer to stay in your house in bed??? or be in a nice cozy stroller, with some fresh air and gentle motion??

if your baby has a cough its best to check that everything is ok with your doc / health visiter.

There will be as many pathogens indoors as out. Babies are very good at dealing with their environment. You have a few hundred million years of evolution to thank for that!

Stay inside and open a window? It'll be a nice breeze.

Speak to a doctor and see what they say may be the cause of the cough. If it's just one of the coughs that all kids pick up then there is no harm in taking him outside. The fresh air will probably do him some good.

Why does he have a cough at 12 weeks old? You should have been more careful with him. He has very little immune system at this age.

Maybe on a warm day it would be OK to take him out to the garden. But make sure its in the shade AND he has a high SPF sun protection on as babies have very sensitive skin.
