My son has been cruising for about three months. He took his first solo steps a month ago. Everytime time he tried he fell of course. Now he is afaid to walk without holding my hands or holding on to furniture. What can I do to encourage him to try again?

  1. If he's cruising he'll walk in his own time - he's learning so much at the moment that he's probably put that aside as something to do later.

You can encourage him by sitting on the floor with him and someone else he knows and trusts (partner, grandparent friend etc) with a soft rug, and letting him walk from one to the other.

Once he starts, you won't be able to stop him!

  2. give in to him.. if he wants to hold ur hand then do that for him.. he needs to feel comfortable on his own and he is only 12mnths old , still cant reason to know itll be ok.. dont stress and give him time

  3. Holding his hands will help him learn to better trust himself, because he won't fall as often.  My son fell a LOT during those first months of learning to walk, so just baby proof the sharp corners and have a lot of patience.  You will get to a point where you won't be able to keep up with him soon! :)
