  1. For starters...what do you mean she WON'T take her meds...she WON'T LET you put a plastic sheet on her bed???? You're her parent and you need to regain control...embarrassment is one thing, being a brat is another...she runs you.  Her medication is for her own good, her life depends on it, therefore you need to be the parent and INSIST she take them OR there WILL be consequences. She is just waiting for you to stop being so weak where she is concerned...BUCK UP and take care of your child!

  2. A friend of mine had a daughter with cf, with proper care and medication the girl made it to 16 years  old. ok, if it is more important for you to not make her mad by MAKING her take her med,  I dont know what to tell you, shes a child,  you know this is a matter of life and death, you make her take them any way you have to.as far as the pull ups, well, you either keep cleaning the mess, or you deal with that too.

YOU are the parent, and while i understand its more difficult with  a sick child, sometimes we still have to do things we dont want to.

  3. I can understand why she is embarrassed. Just try to be understanding with her. They do have plastic sheets that are covered with padding - of course u still have to wash it but it won't be as embarrassing for her if she has friends over or anything. They don't make that plasticy sound when she gets into bed.

Are her meds in pill form? Perhaps try crunching them up in her food or something. Read labels because some pills cannot be crunched for certain reasons. Also, sit down with her calmly and try explaining to her that if she doesn't take her meds she can get very ill.

    Hope this helps!

  4. put the pills in her food lmao

  5. While i agree with the poster that you are the mom and should be taking control

    (1) you should ask her why she doesn't want to take her meds.  If they make her feel bad, the doctor may have to change the dose

    (2) diapers and plastic sheets on beds are uncomfortable.  a better choice would be (a) encouraging her to use the bathroom before she sleeps whether she wants to or not (b) strongly limiting the amount of sweet drinks she drinks- only water is best, pure cranberry juice a close second and (c) getting a removable, washable, cloth pad for the bed, and allowing her to keep a change of sheets near the bed, and make her wash her own clothes.  That way if an accident happens, she'll have more privacy and feel less like she needs to hide the embarrassment.
