My little girl only has 5 feeds in a 24hr period. She'll eat between 90ml to 120ml per feed, sometimes less. She sleeps through the night (approx 9hrs) and in the morning will only eat approx 90ml. She's gaining weight and is happy. Shold she be eating more? Could there be something wrong? My dr and health nurse seem to think that's ok.

  1. Every baby is different, they are just little miniature people. Some grown-ups eat more than others...same with babies. If she loks healthy, is gaining weight ...relax ....she'll let you know what she needs.

  2. I have a 14wk baby girl too, she eats just like your daughter, sometimes she doesn't hungry for 5 or 6 hours and if I give her the formula she would crys and gets mad.

But the dr. said it's all right as long as she is still growning and happy so I don't think you need to worry, you are not the only one .

  3. That sounds fine.  My 9mth old was the same and is a healthy weight and developing very normally.  She will let you know when she wants more and will only take what she needs.  Formula feed bubs get full and satisfied alot quicker as the formula is heavier in there tums than breast milk.    Dont worry.

  4. It seems normal to me every baby has his/her own eating habits. I would consider yourself very lucky to have a newborn sleeping through the night, this usually takes several months. As long as she is gaining weight and seems satisfied it is a blessing.

  5. If she's happy and gaining weight, then I would not worry.

Sounds like you have a happy healthy baby, keep up the good work and don't worry.  I have 3 children and never measured bottles, they ate as much as they wanted when they were hungry.

  6. Sounds fine to me. Some babies are very different from others. It's just how she is.

  7. My baby slept for aprox. 8 hours a night and was similar to your newborn when she ate around 110mL per feeding. My doctor said it was ok and gave her a look through and she is a healthy baby girl age 2 1/2 right now. Some baby's are just like this. Enjoy the fact your bundle sleeps most of the night... its a blessing since baby number 2 definately doesn't.

  8. yeah of coarse! :) she's great especially if she's gaining wieght. when i was a baby my mom said that i would NOT eat anything and she thought i was going to die of starvation.. but i was a skinyy little girl for elementry school. but now i'm in college and very normal sized :D

--and was always healthy, didn't really ever get sick..

  9. my daughter is 3 now and she was similar. she still only eats one meal a day, sometimes breakfast sometimes lunch and sometimes dinner with a few snacks between. It is just the way she is.

  10. What you should do is congratulate yourself. You have a happy contented well behaved baby.. lucky you! Relax, you're doing fine.
