My 14 gauge speaker wire won't go in the hole, what should I do?

  1. The gold plated connectors will do the trick.  I believe hat they are called "banana plugs".  They make the process of hooking-up speakers much easier too.


  2. Either buy a crimp-on connector, as others have suggested, or just snip off a few of the extra strands of wiring and twist what's left together to fit.  It's not going to make a difference to the amount of sound travelling through it, as on the inside of the amp it's only going to be a tiny little wire running to that speaker terminal anyway.

  3. Equipment is designed so that the terminals accept the ideal wire gauge size.  If the wire you are trying to insert is giving you that much trouble you should consider trying a smaller gauge.  

    However, if it's all you have, the addition of ends that you can crimp on is a good idea.  I suggest buying a Klein style crimper for the best crimp.

  4. Buy some gold plated clips, for under $2.00 almost anywhere; Radio Shack, Home Depot.

    Crimp those onto the end of your 14-gauge.

  5. DUH , make a bigger hole

  6. enlarge the hole.
