okay i know this sounds funny but it is totally true. he has eatin them before like last week but this didn't happen. he did eat quite a few sunday and yesterday, but he loved them so much and i thought he was chewing them not swallowing them whole. he has been very gassy and early this morning he woke up with a belly ache im guessing and he pooped out more raisins....and i know it can't be compfortable for him because at first i thought it was just "rabbit turds" but then i got a good look at them and realized what they were and he is literally pooping out just the raisins, almost no f***s. he has a really bad rash down there too now, he actually tried to run away when i wipe him because it hurts so bad, i i'm being gentle as i can. this isn't the first time he has pooped something out whole, but he has already pooped like 4 times and just raisins. should i be worried or could he be allergic? im obviously not giving him anymore anytime soon.

  1. Raisins are one of the foods on the "not until age 4" list that I have, I think because it's a choking hazard.

His sore bottom is from the constipation, probably. Try wiping him with a damp paper towel, so it's soft. Use water that is about skin temperature and wring it out well -- you only want it to be a little damp.

  2. I wouldn't be worried.  Sounds like you've got a good plan to stay away from the raisins for a while!  Try wiping with plain old water and a baby washcloth.  Thats what I do when my son's skin is really irritated.  And switch butt ointments, that sometimes does the tricks when I can't get the rash to go away.  My all-time go-to rash ointment is Desitin Original.  Good Luck!

  3. He is probably not chewing properly. He must have swallowed them whole cuz he likes the taste. I did the same thing when I was eight with raisins and pistacheos only I puked them out whole. I stayed away from both things till I turned 20.  Just supervise his chewing for awhile to make sure he is chewing things before swallowing them whole.

  4. Raisins are a big no-no for toddlers.  They are a choking hazard.  You are lucky he is swallowing them and not choking.  Don't give him raisins anymore.  They are hard to chew too.

  5. Raisins and a few other food items like corn can't be digested (especially for kids) unless the outer skin has been chewed.  With him just eating them whole, it clogged him up.

It's okay for him to have them if he isn't having a problem choking on them, you might want to teach him to chew them and break them up before giving them to him so he can digest them better.  Also, don't give them to him in large quantaties.

For his rash, I know this will sound weird but alternate diaper changes with neosporin (if there are open sores) and crisco.  The crisco acts as a waterproof barrier, a few days of that does wonders.  Also, warm baths help, just make sure to dry his bum off completely before putting a new diaper on.

I know it hurts him and he is probably screaming, but in a few days it should go away.  You can also give him a little baby motrin for the pain if it's really bad.

    Good luck.

Remember too that anything acidic can give kids bad diaper rashes if their diapers aren't changed right away, orange juice, strawberries etc.
