  1. I am sorry for you and that dog was adorable!!!!! I had to get over my dog because I had to put it to sleep and I just couldn't get over him for so long!!! I loved him to much but I just remember how many good times we had

  2. You have my sympathy, as Reggie was a beautiful and smart looking dog.

    Google RainbowBridge.com

Rainbow Bridge is a place where you can, for free, put a memorial up for your dog.

That way you can tell his story for the world to know, and you to remember, always!

  3. When you loose a family member, you never get over it. Just know that he could not go on suffering and that the right thing was done. God stores all the animals of our entire life for us until we get to heaven, then we get them back.

  4. Sorry for your loss.  That's a tough one to take and by the picture, it looked like reggie was a really cool dog.

I think the way to get over stuff like that is to admit that it bothers you.  Maybe you can talk about it with your mom or dad.  They probably miss the dog too and probably aren't sure how they should be handling it either.  Get it out there, say something to your family members about how it's making you feel.  Ask them how they feel.  Give your other dogs some big hugs and tell them how it's making you feel.

Something that's always helped me with the loss of a pet is a little memorial service.  Sounds cheesy, but for some reason it helps.

    Again, sorry for your loss.

  5. u just have to deal with that he is dead now

  6. i am so sorry for your loss, there is nothing anyone can do for you in this time, i have a red border collie named copper, myself. make yourself a little memorial so you can feel like he is watching over you and just remember what a wonderful companion he was. put his picture in a frame with his collar or something. just know that he is not in pain anymore and to keep him alive for you and your family would have caused him much more suffering.

  7. Oh man...that happened with my schnauzer. They had to give her 2 shots. I'm still mad at myself for not staying in the room with her, but I couldn't bear to watch. I was bawling my eyes out. Her heart just wouldn't stop beating until the second shot. It was so difficult to deal with, and really hard to get over. But believe me, time will help. It's going to be hard to get through, but you still have tons of great memories with him. You also have your other dogs. Spend time with your other pets and love on them like you would the one you lost. He's watching over you.

  8. what a beautiful boy im so sorry to hear it. Just remember the good times and always hold his memory in your heart. Dogs are very special friends they go through alot with you andalways happy to see you no matter what you have done. Maybe you could make a little private shine to him. The other dogs you have should also help.

  9. I am so sorry to hear about Reggie.  What an adorable dog!

What you're feeling is completely normal!  You just lost one of your best friends this morning, so of course you're going to feel awful tonight.  I promise you, it will get better.  You will always remember Reggie, but slowly the painful thoughts will disappear and be replaced with good thoughts of the great times that you had with Reggie.

Please remember that euthanasia is a gift that we can give our dogs.  It is a humane way of putting the dog to sleep, even when it does not go well like with Reggie.  The solution is an overdose of a sedative, so as soon as they get just a little bit, they are not aware of their surroundings.  With older dogs, it sometimes takes quite a while to the solution to travel in their bloodstream and stop their heart.  But just remember, he was basically unconscious, even though he may have been moving.  He didn't feel anything.  I have assisted with hundreds of euthanasias, and although not pleasant, they really are the last gift that we can give our dogs.

Are you aware of the Rainbow Bridge?  The Rainbow Bridge is a place separating Heaven and Earth.  When your animals die, they go to the Rainbow Bridge, where the grass is green, there are tennis balls and treats and everything that Reggie loved.  He is not in pain at the Rainbow Bridge, and he can run and jump like he used to when he was younger.  There, Reggie waits for you, until your time comes to go to Heaven.  You will meet Reggie and all of your other loved pets, and together you'll cross into Heaven together.

I wish you the best while you suffer from this difficult time, but remember that Reggie is no longer in pain, that he can walk again, and that he is happy.  Relish in your other dogs, and one day you will all be together again.
