  1. If you are sure he is not being bullied talk to his teachers he may be struggling with the lessons and they would be able to give him work to do at home to catch up, there has to be a reason he hates school and until you know what the reason is its hard to find a solution!

  2. there must be some bully related reason that he doesn't want to go to school. However mild it is. When I was 13/14 I didn't class my self as getting 'bullied' but i got teased a little bit and I didn't like school. Now that I don't anymore, I love school. But I can imagine it being really scary starting a new school. Maybe he is getting bullied, he's just o embarrassed to tell you. x

  3. I understand, because I also hated school.  And as an Adult, I now hate work.  The only thing that kept me in school was being able to graduate at the end.  And Work,  .  .  . well, I'm still trying to figure out why I go into that dreadded place every day.  The pay isn't that great, so it can't be the money.  But anyway, maybe if you promise him something as a graduation gift.  It don't have to be anything big, maybe just something humiliating, like you will volunteer to sit in a dunk tank at a fair.  Or you will drag him up to the school building wearing your underwear on the outsuide of your clothes if he don't go. Sorry I'm not much help.  I understand why he hates it though. he is not alone

  4. Have you considered moving him to a different kind of school? Traditional schools certainly don't work for everyone. You may want to look at self-guided schools, charter schools or Montessori schools. All are excellent and have proven track records for helping. All the Montessori kids (including high school kids) I know really enjoy school.

It could be that he's bored and not being challenged enough, or that he's being challenged too much. There are educational specialists out there who can meet with you and your son and figure out the problem. Then she can recommend a course of action - whether that means changing schools to one with a different method, doing extra curriculars or solo research projects, etc.

  5. if hes just started this school it is going to take a bit of time getting used to. there is nothing else you can do but gove it chance, when he meets new friends he might get to like it once hes proply settled in, just try to encourage him to like it and get to like the people hes around good luck x

  6. same let him join sports teams and extra curriculem activities and see what happens

  7. if he was OK at his last school he may just need time to settle in. he may also be isolated as he is the "new kid" this can be h**l for the new kid and intentionally isolating someone is bulling them.

home education does not have to  be expensive. you can do gcses from distance learning companies but if this is too expensive he can use revision books and the internet and go to your local college to register him for exams

  8. So whats your question?

  9. i am sorry what is the question?

  10. CONGRATS!!! your kid is normal!

he just misses his old friends. give him time to adjust.

  11. Most kids dislike school in some way. Let him join a sports team. It doesn't matter what sport. let him do the one he likes and that should help him make it through high school and keep him out of trouble.

  12. Sounds normal to me.

  13. Have you tried to find out why he hates school? Most kids would rather be home doing the things that they like most. My 12 yr old would if he were allowed to get away with it, but he has had it explained to him in no uncertain terms that I am not going to be in trouble for not sending him to school.

All schools have a person who gives Pastoral Care for the students they are trained to find out about problems that children have, and also to give the child ways of trying to solve them whilst having support from the Pastoral Carer.

They are a sort of Mentor.

It would be a good idea if you phoned the school, and asked to speak with the person who is in charge of Pastoral Care and arrange to go and have a chat with  her/him.

We did this with our son when we had struggles to get him to go, and found it was a teacher whom he was having a personality conflict with. The teacher also rubbed me up the wrong way, and in fact we had him moved from her lessons. After this we haven't had a problem.

    Good luck.

  14. Have you considered homeschooling?  Maybe he's just frustrated with a certain subject and he needs a different approach taken for him.  You hate for him to get discouraged and learn to hate learning.  You want your child to love learning so that he will do it the rest of their life!

  15. So your son is normal.  Over and over you drill into him, You do what you have to now, so you can do what you want later.

  16. he needs to make friends that will make him like school

everyone hates school but alot of people go for friends get him a party that way he will feel cool and maybe make some friends in the process

  17. well most kids hate school. If he starts bunking of school.....

then talk to the teachers talk to other parents see if other kids hate school.I hated school when i was younger.

  18. Thats normal alot of the time they don't feel like they fit in.

I believe he needs to make some friends, it might seem hard, but sooner or later he will connect with someone!

I would just wait it out.

  19. my son was the same,i took him out and put him into college.

  20. Completely normal. All kids "hate school." He just has to suck it up and deal with it. Oh and p.s. you didn't ask a question.
