My 15 month old son STILL gets up for a bottle a few times a night!

I don't understand. Other kids his age I know sleep over 12 hours a night! I've tried letting him cry, and he will cry himself sick, until he is so upset he can't breath! He has a normal routine, so I don't get it. He sleeps in his own bed. Has anyone or does anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

  1. just give him 2 ounces of water instead of milk,

or try to give him dinner a little bit late like 1 hour before going to bed....

i give my son dinner at 8 and he has his last bottle around 9 or 9:30

and he wakes up at 6:30 for his first bottle when he wakes up (he rarely does) and wants a bottle i just give him water...

my son is 15 month too

    good luck.

  2. first off he should be off the bottle and on a sippy cup if not a regular cup

also make sure to feed him cut up adult food during the day (sry but i've seen people on here ask my child is 2 why is she always hungry she's taking a bottle all day) and give him a medium healthy snack

at that age we left a sippy of water in Caiti's bed and it did wonders

  3. he is getting up out of habit and NOT hunger!!!

i have 2 girls that cry until they puke  so i know how that is but you need not to give into him. let him cry or go in and calm him down... your choice!

but do not give him anymore midnight feedings ( unless he is losing weight then you should you check with hes ped)

afte about a week of waking and crying for a bottle he will start a new habit of buting himself back to sleep if he wakes up .

good luck and maybe thing about starting him on sippy cups soon

  4. A FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME HER DAUGHTER USED TO TAKE BOTTLE LIKE THAT AND HER DOCTOR TOLD HER TO PUT WATER IN A CUP BECAUSE MOST KIDS DON'T LIKE IT. SHE SAID IT WAS VERY HARD THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS BUT IT FINALLY HEPLED.

  5. its a security issue.  my oldest was 19months old when she finally quit using the bottle at night.  i would feed him something really close to bed time.  if he wakes up he wakes up.  try giving him a sippy cup instead of a bottle like once a week and see what happens.  i would put milk in it and then when he gets up give him the sippy cup of milk but, have the bottle of milk on hand just in case.  i did that with my oldest.  she still till 19 months took the bottle at night.  it didn't work for her but, it may work for him.  my boys on the other hand were bottle broke before a yr old and sleeping through the night.  the ped. told me as long as it's at night and not during the day thats better than nothing.  she also told me to put water in the bottle.

    good luck!!!!!!!!

  6. WOW are you talking about MY daughter??? LOL! I have tried so many thing to get her to sleep though out the night. I think she has slept though out the night 4 times in her 14 months of life. And those times I never got a good night sleep. because I was worried that she DIDN'T wake up. LOL. She is waking up a little less, here are some of the things we have done...they all havent worked completly, but it is much better waking up once, than waking up 4 or 5 times.

-Give him a nice dinner. Then before a bath a healthy snack(apple, banana, fruit, cheerios, cheese and crackers...)

-Then a nice warm bath. After read him a story, maybe rock him in a chair(but not to sleep) let him drink a sippy cup of milk.

-Put him to bed sleepy but not asleep.

-During the day keep him active, let him take a nap so he is not over tired.

-We pushed our daughters bedtime back, because she just doesnt need as much sleep as other kids. We have tried to let her cry, she wil also make her self sick, so we go in if she is HYSTARICAL, if not we let her cry a little. We dont pick her up out of her crib. We just pat her back, give her a paci and leave. To cut down on the sippy cups we started watering down her milk, until all she got was water...

-Make sure the room isnt to cold or to hot.

    - If he is on the bottle try to cut down during the day.

Just remember not all kids are teh same...he will start sleep though the night soon...I hope...

  7. Try feeding him more during the day(more ounces). My son is 12 months.. around 8:00 pm is his last bottle.. I feed him more and wakes up around 7a.m. for his first bottle of the day..
