  1. My brothers 10 year old does this.

Go to vet and get it checked. Something was wrong with my brothers dog but I can't remember.

Now he's lost weight he doesn't cough as much. ;)

  2. I would get him to the vet for a check up.  A cough, expecially of a dog of that age) is usually an indication of congestive heart failure. (Cardio).

  3. It sounds like kennel cough to me and is very contagious in dogs.  Your dog needs to go to the vet ASAP.  Good luck 2u.

  4. Only your vet can tell you, after examining your dog, what may be causing the cough.  Coughing can be a symptom of a simple upper respiratory disease, pneumonia, heartworms, or even heart failure.

  5. Why are you asking us?  Take it to a vet.  Coughs are so broad.  There are many reasons for coughs.

  6. Take him to the vet and get him checked out.

  7. First thing to do is to see your vet, if you haven't already. A cough can be a symptom for many things, from kennel cough to heart disease. If it were my dog, at that age, I would visit my vet.

  8. either kennel cough or he's just getting old.

  9. Even with a senior dog we do not want to assume anything.  Dogs can be at risk when "air quality" is poor just like humans. Some of my dogs get "allergies " with season changes just like I do. When it is hot and dusty some dogs may be affected by just the outside conditions.

However, a main concern with a mature dog would be fluid around the heart and lung problems. I would encourage you to get your boy in to the vet for a senior check up if it has been more than 6 months or so. Or at least call the vet office. They would be the first to know if there is a unusual number of dogs coming in with a cough, a contagious situation in the area, etc.  Normally Benadryl liquid will help a cough, even from kennel cough but will not affect if related to possible heart condition. Do hope it is no big deal and your dog is fine.

  10. he's old
