My mercury motor starts hard once I get it started it runs strong but when I take off from a slow cruse it will start to bog down then If I push it a little more it will run strong again. after a good run around the lake I will make a pit stop for about 15 to 25 minutes and the problem happens again. could it be the enricher valve, I was thinking that mabe the last owner moved that s***w on top of it at one time.

looking for a better time Don.

  1. No it will not be the en-richer valve. You do not say what year the motor is,as this would help, but I will try and help.First thing to check is to make sure your enrichener valve is working. To check it remove one of the hoses from it and then activate the key to see if it is squirting out fuel.If yes, does your engine have idol adjustment screws? If it does turn them out a little and this should get rid of the bogging problem. If it has fixed idol jets you will need to remove and clean your carbs.I hope this will help and good luck.
