My 15month old son had a erection, why?

I was just wondering what made him have one, i know its nothing sexual but what causes it in babies?

It can be caused by several things, anything that increases blood flow to the p***s.  

Needing to pee.

Being warm.

sensation of diaper rubbing. (causing increase heat and vascular dilation)

If you are concerned, telephone your pediatricain, especially if this is on going problem.  (where it does not cease)

Anything that feels good may give them one. As you said, its nothing at all sexual, it something that feels good. For example, my little boy gets one when I used to apply cream to his bottom and his testicles. Its very normal and nothing to worry about at all

males tend to have extra blood flow through their p***s at any age.  Even if nothing sexually arouses them, they can get hard during their sleep.

Extra blood flow goes into their p***s's erectile tissue sometimes.

They can get em anytime in their life.

Boys have that problem growing up. They just get random boners or any kind of stimulation could do. or even if he has to pee or after he pees. My son gets the same thing. hes almost 3.

its simply a physical reaction to a stimulation. It feels good no matter what age and its natural. My 3 year old has been experiencing this a lot and has asked me momma my peepee is standing up and wont go down. I usually direct him to the potty and this helps out.

this is also the time that children discover sexuality and it's all a part of growing and human development. I would discourage him from touching himself in public but don't make him embarrassed or ashamed of it. These years are very important to child developement. I tell my son it's alright and ask him if he would like to go potty or to the bathroom to wait for it to go down.

As long as he has blood flowing in his body and there's erectile tissue in his p***s, he will get erections.  Even babies have little fetishes.

Maybe when you removed his diaper for a change, cold air hit him and caused it.

He also may have had a full bladder. This can cause it too.

Little version of men, they get them when they first wake up or there is some other reason for short term blood flow increase.

If it hasn't happened yet, eventually the hands go down the diaper,  they play with themselves when you put them to bed, when they are put on the potty, the second a diaper comes off...

Just think back to what he was like when he first discovered he had feet.  Those feet have been thoroughly explored and his male parts are usually covered making exploration a challenge and therefore more fun.

Good grief, I though mine would pull his off.  We tried to ignore it for the most part, gently reminding him that pee pee is dirty and we don't want hugs or hands in mouths when he's been on the potty and his hands go down below, but mostly we try to distract away from that type of behaviour by keeping other toys available.

Baby do have sensations. The p***s is still a highly sensitive zone, and it's not even uncommon for a baby to "discover" pleasure. It's not "sexual" it's just a feeling of pleasure.

Babies are sexual beings, even in the womb. Some baby boys have even been caught with erections on ultrasounds. When did it occur? Was it during a diaper change?

Babies explore themselves, just as adults do, and this could have caused it. If it was during a diaper change, stimulation from being wiped down could have caused the erection. It happens the same way as it does in adult males, blood flow to the p***s.

It's nothing to worry about, and it will probably happen again, but know that it is completely normal and healthy.

It is just something that happens to boys as they are young and as they grow it , probably just hormones, needs to pee, or increased blood flow but as they age it happens less and less so don't worry because it is perfectly natural or (maybe he is just really happy :-) j/k)
