My 16 week old male neutered kitten just dragged his butt across the floor

he just pooped (kinda soft, but it has been that way a lot since i got him) and afterwards, sat down like a dog and dragged his butt across the tile floor. he has been dewormed and is an indoor cat so he hasn't eaten any rodents or anything like that. is it normal for a cat to drag his butt like that? is there any other reason, other than worms, that he might have done that?

  1. i don't know all i can think of is worms or a reaction 2 something

  2. You usually can tell if its worms, cause they r visable.  Check the anal glands or just have your vet do it for ya.

  3. It's probably because  he had an itchy butt. I had a cat who sometimes did that whenever his butt's itchy. I'm sure your cat just wanted to scratch his butt by dragging it across the floor. Don't worry, it's completely normal.

I also have seen some dogs do the same thing. x]

If you or your cat can't get the litter off, take him to the vet. It might cause an infection or something.

  4. well if he has just been neutered then he will still be healing from his operation.  This will make the area itchy and while it looks like he is dragging his backside he may be just trying to scratch the other area where his op was done.

  5. It could be worms, or it could be that his anal glands are full. Those are his scent glands on either side of his r****m. Sorry for the detailed content, but this is pretty common. You can make an appointment at your vets and they can empty them for you and he should feel much better. When the glands get full, if the cat can not empty them on it's own, they can become very painfull and even get infected and rupture. Which is why they scoot. The vet will probably want to do a fecal test too, just to rule out parasites. Good Luck with your kitty!

  6. If he just does it that one time then he probably thought he had some p**p stuck on him and wanted to rub it off.   But that is common reaction to having worms.  Tapeworms are not killed with a standard dewormer, so he may need to be checked for those.  If you see anything that looks like rice coming out of his butt then he has tapeworms but the vet can do a fecal exam to find out for sure.  Also, dewormers don't always get everything the first time around so it is possible that he still has some worms.
