You and your mom have been through a lot, and you&#039;re both survivors! You should be really proud of yourselves!!

I&#039;m sorry that your birthday won&#039;t be the great day it should be, but there are always ways to make the most of it. Go somewhere fun, like the beach, or bake a cake (it&#039;s a cheap alternative to buying one). Scrapbook your baby photos with your mom or ask her to tell you stories of what you were like as a baby.

If you have friends, ask them to come over or meet them somewhere.

Just because things are difficult doesn&#039;t mean you can&#039;t have a good time and celebrate this milestone!

And you&#039;re not being selfish. We all want to feel special and appreciated on our birthday.
