I took my 18 month old to the Dr. this am because he has been coughing, a temperature of 100.3, & had a really fast heart beat. When we saw the Dr. She said that it’s normal that when kids have a temperature their heart beat will be faster, at the Dr. his temperature had dropped to 97.9 and his heart beat was still at 160. Now 3 hours later his heart beat is still the same. Has anyone had the symptom of a fast heart beat with just being sick? Or do you think I should be worried it is something more?

  1. toddlers always have a faster hearbeat than adults. Its nothing to worry about. It will slow down eventually.

  2. My son had a very fast heart beat at that age. It's normal.

  3. Yes, my daughter always gets a rapid heartbeat with fever.

If the doctor said not to worry, I wouldn't.  But of course you can always take her back in to be seen again.
