Last night for the first time, she took her nappy off and cried because she wet the bed after removing her nappy. Then when I put her down for a nap she did the same thing except the bed was not wet. What can I do about this? experiences please. Thank you in advance.

  1. Sounds like someone is ready for toilet training!

My son started doing this when he was ready to begin basic potty training. It's one of the first signs that they are ready.

This doesn't mean that she will take to it straight away - we had a few failed attempts with my son, but it's probably a good idea to start introducing the idea to her.

There are some great books you could start reading to her to get her used to the idea, and maybe just sit her on the potty every now and again so she gets a feel for it!

    Goodluck!

  2. Start putting her on the potty. Especially when she wakes up dry!! Can't hurt for her to have a "success" at this age.

  3. put pants or shorts on her. My 19 month old has been doing this for months, so i just put pants on her and she doesn't take it off, she tries tho.

  4. That's a habit I had as a child or so I was told. They used to just whoop my a** until I got the point. It didn't work--I'm now a stripper.

  5. She's ready to introduce potty training!

  6. Wow!  I forgot my middle child did that.  Around the same time too.  She would take everything off and throw everything out of her crib.

Anyway, I think it passed pretty fast.  I was just patient and put it back on.  Also, I do both cloth and store bought diapers and the cloth diapers (fuzzy bunz) are really hard for a baby to take off (the snap).  That might help if you are desperate.

As I looked at the other responses I also remembered putting the nap onesies on her.  She also potty trained really early and easily so maybe it's a early sign of good to come.

  7. I had to put a onsie (one piece suit that has snap buttons between the legs) on her to keep her from removing her diaper.  It was the only piece of clothing she could not remove easily.  Very normal behavior, it will pass.

  8. If she is not doing this during the day, then it may be just a 'fiddly' thing. Try poppers, all in ones, etc to make sure the diaper stays on, and give her something else to fiddle with. The Early Learning Centre used to make a great soft dolly, with zippers, poppers, buttons and Velcro for children to do up and undo. Maybe that would distract her.

  9. Is she on pull-ups or regular nappies? Switch them to confuse her. Just a thought.

  10. my daughter was doing that!  it was so hard not to laugh when i went to get her in the morning and she's just happy as a clam and naked - she took it ALL off!  it's a sign that she's ready for potty training.  i'd start getting her to sit on the potty and maybe use pullups at night instead of diapers.

my girl is now 21 months and almost completely potty trained.

  11. duct tape is great!!!!- seriously

  12. She is telling you she does not want to wear nappies any more, time for the training to begin!!! Best of luck, one of my twin boys did this at 16 months and we successfully potty trained him and he has hardly ever wet the bed!!! Now he is seven, and his twin brother still wets the bed!! Some children are just ready before others, you are lucky she is demonstrating her readiness, should make it easier, be prepared to do a little washing if necessary, just think of the money you will save on nappies!!! Good luck
