Question:

My 19 month old son has a weird rash on his tongue?

It looks like someone was holding a dime on the back of his tongue until it left an indent. It doesn't seem to be bothering him and it is only lightly different colored then the rest of his tongue. He has had it for at least a few weeks now. Should I be worried?

  1. could be thrush... Is it white? I would at least call the doctor. Sometimes they can tell you if they think it's nothing or if you should bring him in. I personally would bring him in if for no other reason to satisfy the curiousness of the rash. :)

  2. may be thrush-kinda like a yeast infection

  3. it  is call thrush it is like a yeast infection he will need antibotics

  4. When it comes to children (if you have the money, or insurance) you should take them to the doctor.  Mainly so you know how to treat it & what it is. I'm in somewhat agreement that it seems like it could be Thrush, which is a type of yeast infection.  It looks as if it coats the tounge & if you don't steralize bottles the right way is how he/she probably got it! I'm not a doctor (so that's why I suggest one)! If you can't afford a doctor or free clinic then I suggest maybe researching the internet for more information and trying the holistic approach! Blessings to your child and best of luck! I beleave there are too many drugs with too many side effects beleave in going natural/holistic!

  5. Does he still drink from the bottle? You normally don't check the insides of the mouth of your child, so sometimes the bottle could have left a dent in their tongue from sucking hard.

My son had a lump on the roof of his mouth due to this. I freaked when I accidentally saw it, but it solved itself as soon as he went to a sippy cup.

If you don't trust it though, go see your local pediatrician!

  6. Take him to the doctor it could be thrush.  Thrush  can be caused from putting dirty bottles in his mouth so watch what he drinks out of make sure it's clean.

PS Antibiotic's can cause thrush also.

  7. I would have it looked at, is he breast feed? it could be thrush, if it is whiteish i am not sure if nonbreast feed kids can get it too..

  8. Just to be safe take him to a docter.

  9. looks like you should get tested

  10. id say cud be thrush see ur gp

  11. Could be thrush or the start of strepthroat so it is best to take him to the Dr because both need meds to clear up.

  12. Sounds like your baby may have thrush caused by Candida albicans, this usually occurs when the normal flora of our bodies are destroyed during antibiotic treatment, or use of corticosteriods. Has your baby been treated with these? Don't worry it's very treatable, but only if you go see a doctor and get it treated.  Most likely, the Dr. will prescribe fluconazole, clotrimazole lozenges or with a nystatin oral solution.  Be sure to follow the prescription very carefully especially if prescribed nystatin (very important). Good luck.
