My 1970 60hp johnson will idle for a few and then dies also dies after putting in gear please help.

I have a new gas tank new lines and good gas mix at 50:1 it will run for a while in neutral but as soon as i put it in gear it dies. Motor was not winterized last year could it be dirty carbs? any suggestions will be very helpful.

It sounds like fuel starvation, strip the carbs, blow out the jets with an air line and clean the filters. When you re-assemble, make sure the seals are tight.

sounds like dirty carbs take them off and rebuild them

maybe u left gas in those carbs if u did u might need 2 cleanem,if that dont work beat the h**l out of it with a sledge hammer and buy a 400 black max
