  1. See your mechanic, the 1978 Chevy 350 was the last to run on what used to be called Regular or leaded gasoline. The new gas with the alcohol may be messing up your carburetor, for a quick fix try some STP and some dry gas to see if elements have built up some where causing a slowing of your fuel flow. Look underneath your vehicle to see if you have fuel dripping along the front right of your engine which might indicate your fuel pump needs to be replaced. You could have a worn fuel line the engine being thirty years old.

  2. man i had a car that did this..it was a 70 model chevy truck..had a 350 small block..it would start fine then after running for maybe 2 minutes it would cut off...turned out to be a pick-up coil in the distrubitor..it took 5 different friend to figure it out so if i helped you..i feel good..

  3. It is probably a sticking choke.  Quick check is to stick your finger in the tailpipe and if it comes out with a sooty black residue your choke is sticking or the engine is flooding.  If you have a 4 barrel quadrajet this is fairly common.  If it is relatively clean then look for something electronic like a bad coil,  you have an old HEI ignition system so the coil is in the top of the distributer.  These coils are notoriously bad and known to cause all kinds of problems.  BTW the last leaded car was made in 1974.  I know cause I removed the exhaust out of my 1979 Corvette and replaced it with the 1974 exhaust (no cat) and punched out my gas filler.

  4. you probably need to set the idle on it    the choke is engaged during warm up if u still got the old quadrajet carb on then that is another problem  even if its rebuilt they will still give u problems replace it with a edelbrock 650 and u b ok. thats what i done on my  84 chevy. or u could have a vaccum leak

  5. carb on it> choke is not working right... take air cleaner off and watch choke as it warmes up... heat also makes coils stop working
