My 1986 Camaro Iroc Is Only Getting 10mpg?

Question

My car as far as i know is in good shape .....change oil and have aftermarket k&n air filters why is my 305 v8 getting really bad mpg when i hear of others getting 30mpg with these cars

this may sound expensive, but i had the same prob with my 92 c2500, and i changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, map sensor, fuel injectors, spark plugs, and plug wires, and now i get it to about 18-20mpg, not bad from 7-10 as before.  you might want to invest in that, changing the oil and air filters won't make a difference, i've been there.

it could be time for a major tune up. 30 mpg out of a 305, i doubt that. i get 18 when i am good and 13 when i floor it in my v8.
