My 1990 Ford Ranger was smoking under the hood? But...

When I opened the hood, around where it was smoking and on the under hood, was orange? Just orange, it smelled bad, I know it's smoking because of the radiator, but why is it orange?

It's your coolant it over heated and blew a hose or gasket or may-be a freeze plug. The orange is rust.
