My 1991 maxum outboard alarm goes off when going very slow for a few mins like in a no wake zone?

when we are leaving the marina an we have to go very slow for a minute or 2 the alarm starts going off once we start going fast it stops after a few mins an only sound if we are going vewry slow

we know its not over heating cause it does it right after we get it in the water an are going so slow though the no wake zone

the boat runs very well an has no probalems just the alarm going off for a few mins if we are going too slow for about 1 min any ideas like i said before we know its not over heating

  1. If there is a seperate oil source, it may be mesuring the amount of oil with the slow power setting the meter may not be able to interpret the oil/fuel mix. ask a competent mechanic not a jerk teck for the answer.
