One day i was riding with my buddy and it just stopped running, like the engine was still on but it the shifting was all messed up, i could shift still but it would be really hard and would shake the truck, like start thumping, loud thuds under the hood.

Now it sits in my yard and nobody knows what is wrong with it, any suggestions onto what it might be? The Battery is dead now, but before it died i tried starting and it would start, it would just try to and you kept hearing a thud in the engine.

  1. it sounds like it has jumped timing in the engine have someone check the timing on it if it did it could have done some major damage to the engine, you wont know until someone checks this and pulls a valve cover to see if it done any valve damage to it,good luck.

  2. motor run but shifting was bad then the transmisson is gone dry or out but then you say the motor has a thud to it then good bet the motor is shot

  3. Try calling a local auto shop and let them fix it up.

You should also replace some old parts because they seem to slow people down and they can cause a lot of problems further through its lifespan.

  4. clutch??

  5. i would have to guess it's the starter. if it's not the starter than i have no idea what it can be. my 2005 focus did the same thing. it just died in the middle of the road. turns out the starter died, and once i changed it, my car was back to running.
