  1. Calipers or wheel cylinders sticking.

  2. Something is wrong with it, but I'm assuming you already knew that.  I would suggest taking it to a real mechanic since the people doing your brakes every six weeks obviously haven't caught on that there might be a real problem that they might have to think about and actually diagnose and not just throw parts at it.  Seriously, brakes are important, take it somewhere and get it fixed right before you kill yourself or someone else.

  3. You have a mechanic that is playing you for a sucker - brakes should last 50000 + miles in normal conditions

  4. cheap brakes are being used or your calipers in the front  are sticking causeing your brake pads to rub your rotors constanly making them were out fast. Have your calipers checked if uneven wear is indicated on the pads then those calipers are bad replace an you should be good an also have your back brakes checked if they are worn then your font brakes will be the only ones being used cause fast wear too

  5. There are 2 reasons that come to mind:

    1) The brake pads are made from soft materials. These have the characteristic of providing excellent breaking. The disadvantage is that the pads wear down quicker than harder materials; and

    2) The style of driving has an effect of the brakes wearing down. For example, aggressive driving, speeding up fast and slamming the brakes to stop wears out brake pads sooner than coasting toward a stop sign or traffic light.
