  1. Eep, thumbs down D;

    Okay, I'll reword it.

If they are getting injured (Blood or cuts or anything) then separate them. If not, they are probably just playing around. [:

    Good Luck

  2. Kodo and Loki are right. This is the same thing the ferret shelter I work for and the vet told me when we had ferrets act this way. It's normal in their world. We may want to protect them but that's just the way they do things.

They all settle down eventually and become best friends once they decide who is the boss. If there is no blood, p**p or pee it will be fine.

Ferrets are really tough with really thick skin. That is also how they play, as strange as it sounds.

  3. I can understand your concern, but for the most what you are describing is normal behavior between ferrets. They play hard together as youngsters and they eventually determine who is the 'alpha' ferret (the "boss")....usually the one doing the dragging.

One may be trying to tell the other "hey, I'm the boss here".  VERY normal. If he didn't do it, the other might, so he's not being bad or anything, just normal 'pecking order' in ferrets.

There are only three cases in which we separate ferrets when they are wrestling or dragging each other around (because they also 'bond' during this time) - the saying is "NO p**p, NO BLOOD, NO FOUL".

So, as long as the one being dragged, bit or wrestled - as long as he/she is not pooping or bleeding, don't separate them.  Fighting to the point of causing the other ferret to p**p or bleed is very unusual, but it does sometimes happen that ferrets need to be housed separately.

Unless they tell you over and over that they really DON'T want to be together (screaming, p**p flying, etc), they will no doubt settle down in a very short time and just bond together into one cage.

Be sure each ferret has his or her own little bedding area where they can crawl off and away from the other if they prefer to sleep alone - at least two hammocks with flannel baby blankets to cover themselves up with, sleep sacks, a towel to crawl down into, etc - each would constitute one sleep area.  Once they are all used to each other, you can probably get by with one very large bed for both ferrets to sleep in.

  4. SEPERATE THEM!!!!! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN A CONSTANT BATTLE WITH YOUR ROOMATE??????!!!?

  5. just let em duke it out. no i'm joking. uhh maybe one's getting more attention than the other?

  6. Is there blood?  If your answer is 'no' then stop worrying.  :)

Both of your ferrets are trying to determine who is where on the totum pole.  Your constant intervention is hindering this and prolonging the process.  Let your ferrets 'dook it out' so to speak.  The behavior will pass.

IF at anytime you notice blood or high pitched screaming THEN you will need to intercede and possibly get separate cages.

  7. 2males or2 females will fight  you can split the cage or bowl

  8. separate them now!  don't read any more comments or ask another question just seperate them A.S.A.P!!!

  9. SEPARATE THEM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
