  1. lots of water, although you could add a little cammomile to it, or a tiny bit of prune juice (natural and unsweetened)

  2. It can be very normal for a baby this age to go several days between BMs.  This is especially true for breastfed babies (breastmilk is digested and utilized so completely that there isn't much residue -- some BF babies go 7-10 days between dirty diapers.

If he's formula fed it would be more usual to have a daily BM, but even then, if he's comfortable, and the stool is soft when it comes out, he isn't constipated and you don't need to do anything.

(Constipated is defined as hard stools that are painful to pass -- NOT by any particular frequency.)

If he IS uncomfortable, you can try rubbing his belly or bicycling his legs, or using a thermometer or half of an infant glycerine suppository to stimulate matters.  Otherwise ... dont' worry about it.

  3. Speak to a health visitor or a doctor asap and get baby checked over.  Is baby's tummy hard or having any discomfort?

When my baby was 2 months old she didn't have alot of bowl movements just one every two days or possibly three days.  I questioned it with health visitor and she said that because baby was having breast milk, she was taking what she needed and therefor not having many dirty nappies but

always trust your instincts.   Good luck

  4. call the doctor but if he is breastfed that is normal, bf babies can go up to 10 days without going poo.

  5. try unsweetened prune juice and if that doesn't work, take him to a doctor.

  6. prune juice

  7. my daughter to this day has this issue (10months) i used karo syurp. i didn't want to use laxatives.  call me terrible.  i have to really pump her full of fruits and she wont have hard hard ones now.

or thermometer with vasolene just inside rectom (just a little in like taking temp)

  8. Do what the constipated mathematician did - work it out with a pencil.

  9. If he's breastfed, don't panic, it can happen.  either way you can give him some warm water - boiled and left to cool - also you can try little exercises: on his back, make little bicycle motions with his legs (gently) and then rub his tum gently in a clockwise direction and then gently raise his knees to his tummy and stratch them full out - repeat a few times and then raise them allowing him time to push out a p**p!  It can help loosen the bowels and get them working.  You may also want to check with your health adviser about a little, tiny amount of prune juice in warm water - honestly I'm not sure if that's ok for 2 months old (I used it for my baby at 6 months and it worked when she was constipated for a week).  If you do try it, just use a very small amount otherwise you will be cleaning a Lot!

  10. ER or Dr.

  11. my oldest was the same way. my doctor told be to try diluted apple juice. when that didn't work, i had to use suppositories. while i was convinced it would put me into therapy, it worked and less than 5 minutes later, i was changing a very nasty diaper.

PS-5 years later and still no therapy.

  12. Yes, we had the same problem.  Our doctor said you can give 1 tsp. of Karo Syrup mixed with 4 oz. of formula.  Or you can saran wrap the tip of a digital thermometer, lubricate it with water, and very gently stick the tip into the r****m.  Not too far, just barely in.  Should make baby p**p quick!  Also, what formula are you using? or is he breastfed?  You may want to switch formula if you notice hard stools, and constipation is frequent.  Once we switched formulas we had no problems!

  13. Try some apple juice or try prune juice or just some plain water can loosen his stool, doctors tell you that they shouldn't drink water until a year old but they can. Try putting his knees to his chest also, to help push it out.

  14. he might not be constipated he might just have a tape worm

  15. My daughter didn't have bowel movements for 3 days sometimes also. My pediatrician told me that it was normal for some babies to go that long without one. As long as he dosen't feel uncomfortable he's probably fine, just a little irregular.  If he is truly constipated trust me you will know, he will poke his but up and pull his legs close to his chest. If you still aren't satisfied with what I said just try to give him some juice high in fiber, welch's have a grape just that has added fiber which works well. What I also did when my little girl was actually constipated was give her a small amount of light corn syrup in the bottle with her juice. If you are still concerned call your pediatrician and sk them. I don't think you have anything to worry about though, about 2 months was when my little girl became irregular the same way. To this day she can go 3-4 days without one, she's now 16 months.

  16. Usual answer: put a baby-size (1 gram) glycerine suppository in him, and it'll make him do some dirt in 5-15 minutes!
