  1. res are active turtles. if they arent tired they wont go to the dock. dont worry, res are smart turtles and will climb on the dock when they get tired, rest and then jump back in the water. they are funny when they do that. lol. my map turtle did the same thing with me but i knew they were smart so i didnt worry. your turtles are fine. you could just be catching them at the wrong time.

    ..............hope that helped you..............

                   bye

  2. you all are new to each opther and they don't really care for people.I have 2 that are 36 yrs old and they still zip into the water when they see me coming.

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light for  8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that  they need to grow. After they swim and catch thier food and get full they will then bask..but watch them from a distance. Till they get use to you.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system!

You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily.

They need leafy greens for vitamins at least 3 to 4 times a week.

And a big tank 55 gallons or more..

  3. what is the dock?

  4. Your turtles will get used to the dock, but it will take more than a day.  It's just not used to it yet

  5. because you just got these turtles they are still getting used to their new environment.  they naturally feel safe in the water so when they are comfortable with their new home they will start basking.  swimming alot is also a good sign. it shows that they are healthy and active.  as long as the uv bulb/basking dock is offered their in good shape.

  6. If somebody stuck you in in a dangerous place, would you place yourself in an exposed position or stay where you felt safe? Give them a couple of weeks to get used to the dock and the tank.
